Whether you are new to therapy or if you have experienced therapy in the past, it can sometimes be a little scary getting started with a new therapist. Therapy can provide a safe, trusting, and confidential space to clarify your concerns, find meaning from your past, and make life-affirming choices for your future.
Your Free 15 Minute Phone Consultation
You may book your consultation call online by clicking here. Please be sure to leave a number I can reach you at. When we speak, please give me a general idea about the struggles you are seeking help for. This will also give you a sense for what therapy will be like if we were to work together. This is a great opportunity to address any questions you may have. If it seems like a good fit, from there we can move forward and schedule an initial appointment.
Our Initial appointment
The first appointment is usually different from subsequent appointments. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to learn more about you and many other areas of your life including your background, relationships, medical history, family history, past therapy experiences, and any spiritual or religious beliefs.
Frequency of sessions
Therapy appointments are once a week, especially in the beginning. Sessions may be more or less frequent down the road depending on the intensity and severity of the current problem, progress made, scheduling, and other factors.
Probable length of therapy
How long will this take? This will also depend on several factors including: the severity and complexity of the problem, how recent problems developed, the quantity and quality of social support outside of therapy, and your motivation to engage in therapeutic activities inside and outside of therapy, and possibly insurance constraints. If you have concerns regarding the length of therapy or if you have specific therapeutic goals, please discuss them with me and together we can strategize a plan to meet your needs.
Cost of therapy
My fee for 50-55 minutes is $200. All other services are prorated at that rate.
If you would like to use your insurance, I would be happy to provide a monthly receipt (also known as a "superbill") to you so that you may seek reimbursement through your insurance company. Whether you get reimbursed and how much will depend on your specific plan. If you wish to go this route, you may want to contact your insurance and ask a customer service rep about your out of network benefits and the steps you need to take to submit a superbill to obtain reimbursement.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about how this works.
